Fossils

In platy cherts, numerous traces of mud-eater activity, worm burrows; in limestones - brachiopods and crinoids. Conodonts - Drepanodus cf. proteus Lind., D. subarcuatus Furn., Drepanoistodus cf. forceps (Lind.), Paroistodus parallelus (Pand.), Periodon Flabellum Lind. and others, typical for the Arenigian; upper radiolarians - Entactinia cf. complanata Naz., E. cf. akdjmensis Naz., E. aff. elongata Naz., Ulcundia sp.

Age

Middle Ordovician of the lower part is substantiated by conodonts. Ya.B. Aysanov et al. (1984f, 1986f), A.K. Bukharin et al. (1990f.) attributed it to the Middle Ordovician; on the geological map of the geodynamic polygon of the Kyzylkum, the suite is dated as early-Middle Ordovician (Arenig-Llandeilo) (Abdurazimova et al., 1993f.).
